Episode 4
While giggling about the title of this episode (which we did often) I realized that my ride along with Motorcop did give me a new hope.  A new hope that we can prove ourselves Professionals and stand up to the bean counters and lawyers who are afraid of a law they do not understand.

Our Rebel cast once again includes the one person I like to listen to at length, me, and traffic enforcer Extraordinaire Motorcop from Morotcopblog.com.  We discuss the collision from the ride along and how vastly different the law treats them compared to EMS and how there is no reason for it. We also find out how many times a PCR has been entered into court.

And in part of a new segment, we answer listener questions submitted on twitter.

On another note: Someone asked about why we don’t have show notes. Um, dude, we’re doing an audio show so we don’t have to take notes!

I love the crossover! Can you guys make a Chronicles of EMS podcast where you interview people from different systems both U.S. and international? Thanks! Keep up the great work!

I’m listening as I write this, did I hear correctly that you don’t send police to every MVA? Here in RI, no police report equals no accident and the chase is on. I’ve been doing things kind of like how you described, no injury, no report and I go back in service. Problem is, there is always the specter of the liability when I do so. Personally, I think the whole being sued for abandonment and such is an urban myth when there is minimal damage and less chance of injury. But that’s just me and my, what I consider common sense, but others think as being jaded, view on things.

Great to hear you, by the way, this is the first time I’ve actually gotten a chance to listen to the entire episode.

Thanks, LT, and I hope some of the issues we discuss are helping on the Captain’s studying as well. Indeed PD will not roll to a non-injury MVC, but when folks state they are injured, PD will wait for us to transport, then respond. Silly, maybe, prudent, surely. I agree with the urban legend comments. We municipal guys seem to see less of a threat than the privates in my experience. Odd…

On the tactical/police medic thing there are several places with paramedics sent thru special training used as reserve officers for high risk situations. Also Davis county Utah all of their police on the street are cross trained as paramedics.
